Disney World Payment Plans Offer Flexibility

May 5, 2009

in Vacation Packages

It is not always easy for families to save up enough money for a Disney World vacation.  Even when you set goals to put aside a set amount, there is always something that seems to come up.  The kids need money for school, sports, or clothes.  You car or house might need an emergency repair.  All of these things can derail your vacation savings plans before you see the finish line.

Luckily Disney World does offer a flexible and interest fee payment plan for all packages purchased directly through the Disney World website and reservation line.  Although it is not officially called a “payment plan” it offers many of the same benefits.  Best of all, it applies to anyone who signs up.

How It Works
Disney World allows you to plan and book your vacation package by putting up a $200 deposit.  After this point you are free to make payments in any amount and whenever you want.  There is no interest or additional costs to sign up for this feature.  The only requirement is that your total vacation package must be paid in full 45 days before your trip.

Disney World Payment Plans

Since there are no penalties or fees if you pay within the allotted time, you can customize your payments to fit within your budget.  This works especially well for people who are expecting tax returns or work bonuses to fund their Disney vacation.  They get the opportunity to plan their trip today and pay for it later.

You can use Disneyworld.com to manage the finances for your Magic Your Way vacation package. Once you have registered you can keep track of how much you owe and even make payments directly through the website.  You can pay the entire balance at anytime before 45 days prior to your arrival.

Also, if you want to apply a PIN code, reduce the number of days or switch to a different resort inside of 45 days or less, then a $50 service fee might be charged. Speaking of fees, watch out for the addition of nonrefundable travel insurance to your package. This is included by default and you can only cancel it while you are on the phone making your reservation.

This is a great alternative to the hefty interest rates that credit cards have, and the flexible terms means you won’t accrue fees for unexpected events that prevent you from making your payment.  Of course you will lose your $200 deposit and any credited payments if you default.  But as long as you have the means to pay on time then there is no better way to take the anxiety out of paying thousands of dollars for your trip to Walt Disney World.

Note that this only applies to Magic Your Way packages purchased directly through Disney World.  The payment terms are not available for single ticket purchases or separate hotel room reservations.

I would like to set-up payment plans for a Disney Vacation. However, I would like to go to the one in Anahiem, Ca. I can not locate any pricing.

2 adults, 3 childrenf July 16 2010 thru July 24, 2010. Include 2-3 park visit during our stay. What website should I use.

DisneyVacation January 2, 2010 at 9:36 pm

Celeste,
Pricing may not yet be available for dates after June 1st, but they should be coming out soon. You can always call the Disney reservation line at (407) 939-7500.

DisneyVacation January 2, 2010 at 9:42 pm

The payment option is available within your online registration. You will be asked for the intital deposit…not the full amount. Once you signup, an account will be created for you that you can login into at any time to view the details of your trip.

After registration you have until 45 days before your stay to come back and pay the balance. You can pay as much as you want up until the due date.

Hope this helps!

My husband and I are researching a possible for a Disney Cruise in 2011. Is the deposit $200/pp or $200 in total

DisneyVacation January 25, 2010 at 2:35 am

Kim,

The deposit is $200 total, but I’m not sure if the payment program is available for cruises. Definitely for Magic Your Way packages though.

ginger oneill January 28, 2010 at 6:59 pm

i was looking into the payment program and wanted to see more info please

april hicklin February 1, 2010 at 12:34 pm

i interest in payment but i want make sure that i wont lose my money

DisneyVacation February 1, 2010 at 6:51 pm

April,

It does not cost anything for the payment option. Simply sign up for it through your online registration at the Disney World website. No interest or fees are charged.

Everyone else,

Just to be clear…you first have to book you vacation before you can elect for the payments. Once you have booked you will have your own online login where you can track and make payments on your Disney Vacation.

If you book by phone, just ask the operator about the deposit and payment option.

Hope this helps – DW

I am wanting to schedule a vacation and utilze the payment plan, however due to my unusal work schedule and my wife’s work schedule, the initial dates we may want will probably change. so if i elect the payment plan with pre-set days to go, will I be able to change the days for my vacation if needed? Thanks
Jeff

DisneyVacation February 10, 2010 at 5:14 am

Hi Jeff,
I’m not sure about the flexibility in changing dates but my guess is that there would be a fee of some kind associated with that. My opinion would be to wait until you know more about schedule before booking.

If you can go during the off-season you will find much more availability. Read more here: http://disneyvacationspecials.com/cheap-disney-vacations-off-seasons

I already have tickets that were given to me as a Christmas present. Is the flexible payment option available when purchasing room reservations only via Disney.com?

Carrie May 4, 2010 at 12:23 pm

I have used Small World Vacations (they are a direct travel agent through Disney World). You can change the dates (with no penalty as long as it is done so far in advance, like 45 or 60 days…not sure the length). Also, if you make a reservation and any deals come out, they will adjust your package to get you the better deal. They were great to work with as they will do any dining reservations you need as well.

My family is planning a disney vaction for 2011, but the disney site says they are not taking reservations for 2011 yet. We want to use the payment plans so we would like to start making those payment right away. What should I do?

DisneyVacation June 5, 2010 at 2:06 am

Sorry Amanda – Disney World does not open reservations for next summer until after the close of this year. You best bet is to open a savings account to keep your extra money stashed away until January 2011.

nicole July 7, 2010 at 11:22 pm

When will the schedule open up for march-april 2011?

Tess Lawall July 16, 2010 at 6:52 pm

They need to make the plan at least a year ahead of time, people need to plan and make payments and then the 45 days before the trip you save for your sovieners the longer we save the more WE spend!!!!!!!!!! Disney freak Tessa

Tim July 25, 2010 at 5:17 pm

For those asking when they can reserve for the next year:

You can book the room, by phone, 500 days in advance. This requires a deposit of one night’s rate. You can later upgrade to a magic your way package when the prices come out for the next year. This does not apply to DVC rooms (villas)

If you want to book the full package for the $250 deposit you need to wait till the price for the year you’re booking come out, generally this happens in August. So if you want to book for 2011 you need to wait for August 2010 for the prices to be released.

Are there any payment plans for the Disney Cruise Line Vacations?

Lori Cooper March 25, 2011 at 8:37 pm

How do I get started in this and planning the vacation

mario April 21, 2011 at 7:27 pm

i want to start paying on trip i have plannned in 2 years can i do this and how

DisneyVacation April 23, 2011 at 7:36 pm

Mario – Disney World does not take reservations beyond 12 months, and sometimes even less. You would be best to setup a personal savings account or something similar to begin saving money for your trip.

ruth April 24, 2011 at 12:53 am

DisneyVacation May 4, 2011 at 1:20 am

Kevin-
No, you have to purchase plane tickets on your own.

DisneyVacation May 4, 2011 at 1:22 am

Ruth-
Call the DW reservation line at (407) 939-7905

Jessica June 1, 2011 at 7:17 pm

How long do I have to pay it off?

Jackie July 5, 2011 at 5:24 am

I have a question. I was going to get a vacation package for 4 days 3 nights…but was planning on changing my tickets to 10 days with park hopper and no expiration…so i can pay monthly for my tickets. I wonder if ur allowed to do that. Basically…if you want to get no expiration tickets..you must pay upfront…but i was gonna get them through my vacation package so i dont have to pay all upfront yet still pay less for the other six days i will have left on my tickets.

I’m wanting to book a vacation in January 2012. I’m planning traveling with my husband, 2 small kids, plus my parents and sister. Can I book 2 room separately under one Reservation, and if so how much would the deposit be? Is it $200 FLAT deposit regardless of how many people, or per person deposit?

Felecia Julian September 5, 2011 at 2:03 am

My entire family is planning our family reunion of 2012. And would like some info about a group package and flexiable payment plan.

Captain Skeptical October 4, 2011 at 7:46 pm

This sounds like a high risk proposition. So I can make a deposit and periodic payments with them, but if something happens and I can’t finish paying I lose everything I put down on the vacation?

Sounds to me like its better to put the money away in some kind of personal savings account.

ruth smith October 18, 2011 at 4:06 pm

are you all doing monthly plans now or beginning in december and how much do you need to put down?

Kathy January 6, 2012 at 4:07 pm

How far in advance can you book a Disney vacation?

DisneyVacation January 9, 2012 at 1:32 am

Anytime in the same calendar year.
