Disney Volunteer Program Closes

Bad news for those of you who were looking to take advantage of the “Give A Day. Get A Disney Day.” promotion. The program reached its one million person cap earlier this month. That means that Disney is no longer giving a free ticket to Disney World in exchange for one day of volunteer service.

From the Disney Website

“We’ve reached our goal of inspiring one million people to volunteer a day of service to their communities, so the “Give a Day. Get a Disney Day.” program has now ended. You can no longer register and sign up for volunteer opportunities on this site to receive a free Disney Theme Park ticket, but you can still continue to give back to your community by locating and signing up for volunteer opportunities through HandsOn Network.”

There are no known replacement promotions scheduled for 2010. Last year, Disney ran its “Free Admission on Your Birthday” promotion, but it expired at the end of 2009.

Families looking to save on Disney World vacation packages can still take advantage of some of the other special deals for the first half of 2010. This includes the free gift card promotion and special hotels rates through June 1st.

Typically, Disney runs pricing discounts in Spring and Fall so if you are planning to travel before June or after August then you will are likely to qualify for special rates. Stay tuned to Disney Vacation Specials for more information!

  1. I’m saddened the vacation special has closed. My wife and I are both educators in Georgia. The economy has cut deep in our financial status. We have taken pay cuts, furlough days and as I write this, we do not know if we will have a job after May 25th. We were unable to participate earlier in the special and were hoping to participate during April. We will be coming to Disney late May, after school is out. We had made the arrangements prior to the latest downturn in our finances. We were hoping that our family could earn a free ticket so we could stay longer on our vacation to Disney World. If there are other opportunities for our family to earn a free ticket, please e-mail us.

  2. I am sadden that the Give a Day Get a Day program is over as well. This opportunity is the only one that I can get to go to disneyland since I have four kids and also too pay cut in our jobs.
